Tapuio

The River Preguiças along its 120km extension has only few banks. One of them is at the center of Barreirinhas town, but is not a suitable area for swimming. The best areas to do so are on the left bank of the river and they are more pristine .

There are few fishermen and natives settlements there and is a great option of swimming area and leisure and it is an interesting place to visit if you appreciate and value a closer encounter with the locals and their culture. The villagge of Tapuio has those small banks, where you can have a refreshing dive in the river and enjoy a cold beer while tasting regional dishes at affordable prices. Its a good option for a day out and a day without any programming. The ride leaving the Encantes do Nordeste Inn to Tapuio is a very pleasant .

The guests board a paddle canoe, common in the region at Bambaê Bar and Restaurant deck , crossing the River Preguiças to the left bank and then a short walk of 25 minutes through ciliar vegetation, consisted of Açai and Buriti palm trees and small subsistence farms, to arrive at village of Tapuio.

A visit to a cassava flour mill house belonging to Dona Maria José is also very interesting.Where the visitor will understand the entire process of manufacture of homemade cassava flour still widely consumed throughout Maranhão .

And the sunset on late afternoon at the rivebank is breathtaking. It's worth a visit.
